Pin Calacal is a Manila-based artist whose work is anchored to Body as a theme and how it functions as a lens through which she perceives relationships, identity, illness, death and place. Her works often use anthropomorphism as a metaphor in her works as well as specific body parts such as human limbs and hair. Recently, she has also been exploring ideas related to being domestic and feral and how these can be connected to the idea of the home and state of mind. Her work includes drawings, paintings in acrylic, mixed media works on paper and art objects made mainly of hair, textile, fabric and so on.
Pin Calacal graduated from the University of the Philippines with a degree in Studio Arts (Painting) in 2015. She also graduated from Ateneo de Manila University in 2009.
