After the Second World War, Jorge B. Vargas was confined in Sugamo Prison. This piece of history puts Marc Aran Reyes to understanding how freedom and confinement work then versus now in Familiar Places. Using materials from Vargas' confinement, the artist shares his idea of how domesticated settings can put you on a different sense of confinement as it could also give you a whole new sense of freedom. As the exhibit goes, we find isolation and freedom in different contexts in time.
